A job opportunity has arisen for a family to escape to a “beautiful Scottish island with a vibrant community”.
Colonsay Estate is looking for a general farm worker to help manage its 3,000 hectare farm which is home to 1,500 ewes and 80 cows.
The role comes with a renovated two-bed garden cottage for the successful applicant.
Candidates should have experience with livestock and using farm equipment.
The position will include duties such as gathering and dosing sheep, feeding cows, cleaning/maintaining machinery, tractor/ forklift driving, and using gardening equipment
The job will pay between £24,000 and £26,000, depending on experience.
Benefits listed for the role include the previously mentioned housing, a company pension and on-site parking.
Colonsay is in Scotland’s Inner Hebrides with a population of only 124, and is connected to the mainland through a ferry service and regular flights.
The job listing states: “We are looking for a general farm worker/tractor driver/maintenance person to live and work on a beautiful Scottish island in the Inner Hebrides, Isle of Colonsay, with a small but vibrant local community.
“You will be working as part of a team under a Farm Manager on the Colonsay Estate farms and under an Estate Manager on Colonsay Estate.
“The farms have approximately 1,500 ewes and 80 suckler cows. The estate covers around 3,000 hectares.”
