A Scottish Come Dine With Me winner who hurled racist abuse at her neighbour has been fined £420.

Lucy Haughey shouted at the 25-year-old on their shared landing in Glasgow’s Cathcart on March 8, 2024.

Haughey – who was stated to have smelled of alcohol – also kicked and damaged the man’s front door.

The 44-year-old – who won the hit Channel 4 show in 2017 – was found guilty of behaving in a threatening or abusive manner, which was racially aggravated.

Haughey was previously convicted after she had sex with a 15-year-old boy and was given a three-year community payback order.

Her previous convictions also include stalking a social worker in 2017, for which she was sentenced to community service.

Haughey posted a video on social media about the woman in 2022, which included abusive comments. She was banned from contacting her victim for ten years.

Haughey was fined £515 and ordered to do 234 hours of unpaid work earlier this year for stalking another woman.

Haughey, who is based in Greece, was due to return to Glasgow Sheriff Court to be sentenced for her latest offence.

However, her lawyer Michael Gallen stated that she could not travel due to “financial difficulties” and the matter was dealt with in her absence.

Sheriff Collette Gallagher imposed a one-year non-harassment order on Haughey against her victims as well as the fine.

The trial heard that author Haughey initially got on with her neighbour when he and his partner moved into their flat in April 2023.

He claimed Haughey and his partner had clashes, which he did not get involved in.

The man stated he heard shouting near his property around 6.50pm and went to investigate.

He said: “I couldn’t really hear what she was saying, I heard shouting from the level below us – I didn’t know it was Ms Haughey at the time.

“I looked through the glass window on the door and I saw Ms Haughey and she saw me.

“She seemed intoxicated at the time and said racial abuse at me saying ‘you foreign c***’ or something like that.”

The man stated that he then opened his door which he claimed was a “mistake” by himself.

The procurator fiscal depute asked the witness what he hoped to achieve by that.

He replied: “To see why she said it but I don’t know – she was intoxicated.

“She came a little bit close to me and I smelled alcohol so I closed the door then called the police.”

The witness stated that Haughey then went on to kick his front door which caused damage to his letterbox.

When asked how he knew that she kicked the door, he replied: “I could hear the impact…she was facing towards the door – she was either punching it or kicking it. If she was using her head, I would have seen it.”

The man claimed that he initially went to work nearby that night but was allowed to return home after 30 minutes.

He stated that he could still hear Haughey shouting from her home but could not remember what was said.

The witness stated that he is in the process of moving out of the property.

Haughey – who represented herself at the trial – stated to her neighbour: “It was your opinion I was intoxicated when I appeared downstairs on a different level?”

He replied: “Yes.”

Haughey asked: “Wow, you could get a job as a sniffer dog.”

Haughey also put it to the witness that the damage to the door was not submitted into evidence after seven months, which the man agreed to.

PC Josh Kay, 27, earlier told the court that he attended Haughey’s home around midnight and arrested her.

He said: “There was a lot of shouting, speaking to a boy who was at the property saying that she should have phoned the police first and if she did so she wouldn’t have been arrested.”

Haughey told the court in her evidence that the entire incident did not happen.

She was asked why she made a comment of “this is what happens when people come to your door” to the police on the night of the incident.

Haughey claimed that this referred to an earlier matter on another day.

Haughey stated that the allegations made by the couple were “lies” and “malicious”.
