Person dead after being struck by train causing 'disruption' to services

A person has died after being struck by a train on Friday morning.

Emergency services were called to Hillington East, between Glasgow Central and Paisley Gilmour Street, after reports of a casualty on the tracks at around 8.41am.

The individual was pronounced dead at the scene. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal

ScotRail confirmed that services between Glasgow Central and Ayr will be cancelled, delayed or revised until at least 12pm.

A British Transport Police spokesperson said: “Officers were called to Hillington East railway station at 8.41am today (24 April) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

“Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious, and a report will be prepared for the Procurator Fiscal.”

ScotRail said: “Unfortunately, we have had reports of a person being struck by a train between Glasgow Central and Paisley Gilmour St.

“We are working closely with emergency services during this time and will keep you updated.”
