ScotRail has announced extra seats and train services to and from Hampden for Scotland’s penultimate Nations League match against Republic of Ireland.

Fans attending the sold out game in Glasgow will now benefit from an increased rail service to and from Mount Florida.

In a boost for the Tartan Army the rail operator revealed the move on Friday ahead of Saturday’s game that will kick off at 7.45pm.

Scotland go into the game at the top of the section and knowing a win could guarantee promotion if Ukraine fail to beat Armenia earlier that day.

Steve Clarke’s team go into the game in top form after Wednesday night’s impressive 3-0 win over the Ukrainians.

Trains are expected to be busier than normal on the night, so ScotRail is asking fans to allow extra time for travelling to and from the match due to the queuing systems in place.

At full time, supporters are advised to head back to Mount Florida, the station closest to Hampden, as quickly as they can and join the queues via Bolton Drive.

Phil Campbell, ScotRail Head of Customer Operations, said: “We’re really looking forward to helping fans get to this crucial Nations League qualifier against the Republic of Ireland.

“To keep everyone moving as quickly and safely as possible, we’re adding more seats to trains between Glasgow Central and Mount Florida.

“However, trains are expected to be busy, so we’re asking customers to plan their journeys in advance and buy their return tickets to Mount Florida before they board.

“Fans should also head back to the station as soon as they can after the final whistle to avoid leaving it until the last train of the night to get home.”

Customers are reminded that ScotRail’s ban on alcohol in stations and on trains is still in place.

Travel information can be found on the ScotRail app and website at scotrail.co.uk/sport.
