A schoolgirl was left with a concussion following an attack in the toilets at a bowling alley in Clydebank.

Footage of the assault has been shared online. The victim’s older sister believes more must be done to stop violence spreading on social media.

Emergency services were alerted to the assault of a 13-year-old girl at Tenpin in the Clyde Shopping Centre at around 6.30pm on February 2.

The girl’s sister collected her from the scene and took her to hospital to be checked over. The victim suffered a concussion and soft tissue damage to her neck, back and abdomen.

A video of the attack has been shared on social media, further adding to the girl’s trauma.

Her sister has described the sharing of footage of attacks on social media as a “city-wide issue” and a “pandemic”.

She told STV News: “Children are on social media a lot more than previous generations have been.

“When violent videos are shared around it glorifies the attacks. I don’t think it’s the school’s or the police’s responsibility.

“I think it is down to the parents to make sure children understand how this affects the victims and the consequences of the crime.

“The platforms should also have more safeguards in place. I understand there is a grey area, but when it comes to children there shouldn’t be.

“We need to speak about this more and collaborate to make sure social media is a safe place. If that doesn’t work then a ban needs to be in place.”

Police Scotland said no arrests have been made but an investigation is under way.

A spokesperson for the force said: “Around 6.30pm on Monday, February 2, 2026, we received a report of an assault on a 13-year-old girl within a premises at Britannia Way, Clydebank.

“Enquiries are ongoing.”
