A schoolboy has been taken to hospital following a quad bike crash near Dumfries and Galloway.

Emergency services were called to a collision on the A711, near Kirkcudbright, on Saturday afternoon at around 1.25pm.

A 15-year-old boy was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment, where his condition is currently unknown.

Police have closed the road between Kirkcudbright and Muthill while they conduct a collision investigation.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 1.25pm on Saturday, July 2, 2022, officers were called to a report of a crash involving a quad bike on the A711 at Kirkcudbright.

“A 15-year-old male youth has been taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment.

“The A711 is currently closed between Kirkcudbright and Muthill.”
