“Several people” have been left in hospital after a five-vehicle crash on the M74 in South Lanarkshire.
Emergency services were called to Junction 5 on the motorway, at the Raith Interchange, at around 8.50am on Thursday.
Lanes one and two northbound have been closed due to the collision.
Drivers have been urged to find alternative routes at this time amid delays of up to 30 minutes.
Traffic Scotland said: “Two lanes restricted due to a multi-vehicle collision. Road users are advised to approach with caution
“Emergency services are at the scene. Tailback heavy, Delays of approx. 25 minutes.”
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 8.40am on Thursday, 31 October, 2024 we were called to reports of a five vehicle collision on the M74 at Junction 7, near Raith Interchange.
“Emergency services attended and several people were taken to hospital as a precaution.
“Recovery was arranged.”
