Three in hospital after rush hour four-vehicle crash blocks two lanes on M74 Traffic Scotland

Three people have been taken to hospital after a four-vehicle crash blocked two lanes of the M74 at rush hour.

Police Scotland confirmed the crash which happened at around 6.35am on Friday involved four vehicles as lanes one and two of three were blocked for a number of hours.

The collision closed the two lanes in a southbound direction at the 1A and 2 junctions near Polmadie.

Three ambulances, a paramedic response unit and a special operations team (SORT) attended the scene of the crash.

Three people were taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital following the incident.

The vehicles were recovered and both lanes reopened after 9am, police said.

A spokesperson for the Scottish Ambulance Service said: “We received a call today at 0632 hours to attend a road traffic collision on the M74.

“We dispatched three ambulances, one paramedic response unit and our special operations team to the scene.

“Our first resource arrived on scene within four minutes and we transported three patients to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.”

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 6.30am on Friday, March 8 2024, we received a report of a crash involving four vehicles on the M74 Junction 2.

“All lanes have re-opened and the vehicles have been recovered.”
