Robber in balaclava threatens shop worker with knife

The masked man, described as having a young voice, was in possession of a bladed weapon.

A man wearing a balaclava threatened a shop worker with a knife during an attempted robbery in Falkirk.

The 37-year-old staff member was left badly shaken in the incident that took place in the A and Z Stores on West Boreland Road.

The armed man entered the store at around 11.55am on Tuesday before brandishing the weapon and demanding money.

He left empty handed and the victim was left uninjured.

Police are now appealing for information.

Detective Constable Colin McInally said: “We are looking to trace a man who was described as young by his voice only, he was wearing blue trainers with a white sole, with dark blue jeans, a black hooded jumper with white tassels.

“He was also wearing a black balaclava with eye and mouth holes and wearing white gloves

“It is understood he was in possession of a dark blue knife, possibly a Stanley or craft knife style.

“Anyone who was in the area at the time or knows who was responsible should call Police Scotland on 101.”
