Roads were closed following the discovery of a “possible hazardous substance” at a property in East Dunbartonshire.

Officers were called to a property in Lenzie at around 3.20pm on Tuesday.

Larch Avenue, Moss Road and Gallowhill Road, between Moss Road and Larch Avenue were closed and the public was asked to avoid the area.

Police confirmed that the area was made safe and roads reopened at around 9pm.

A Police Scotland statement read: “Larch Avenue, Moss Road and Gallowhill Road, between Moss Road and Larch Avenue, in Lenzie are closed following a report of a possible hazardous substance found at a property around 3.20pm on Tuesday, October 28.

“Emergency services are in attendance.

“The public are advised to avoid the area.”
