Roads closed after cyclist hit by lorry in rush hour crash

Road closures are in place and drivers have been urged to avoid Bearsden Cross.

Emergency services were called after a cyclist was hit by a lorry in East Dunbartonshire at rush hour on Tuesday morning.

Police and ambulance crews rushed to Drymen Road in Bearsden shortly after 8.15am after receiving reports of the incident.

Road closures were in place and the condition of the cyclist is unknown.

Drymen Road was closed between South Erskine Park and Roman Road and Manse Road was also closed between Drymen Road and Grange Road.

Drivers were urged to avoid the area.

The roads reopened at around 2.40pm, police confirmed.

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We received a call at 8.12am to attend a road traffic collision on Drymen Road, Bearsden. We dispatched two ambulances, two special operations response teams (SORT), and a trauma team to the scene.”

Police Scotland has been contacted for comment.
