An investigation has been launched after a man suffered serious facial injuries following an attack in Glasgow.

The incident happened in the Panmure Street area of the city on Sunday at around 6.20pm.

Emergency services attended, with police locking the road down between Wester Common Drive and Balglass Street for a number of hours.

The 33-year-old victim was taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries.

Glasgow City Council advised motorists of the road closure at around 7.53pm. The road was eventually reopened shortly after midnight on Monday.

Enquiries into the incident are ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were called around 6.20pm on Sunday, October 11, to a report of an assault in the Panmure Street area of Glasgow. 

“A 33-year-old man sustained serious facial injuries and was taken to hospital by the Scottish Ambulance Service.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of what happened.”
