A road has been closed in both directions after a cyclist was knocked down by a car in Glasgow.

Emergency services were called to a crash in the Thistle Street area at around 1pm on Thursday.

The cyclist was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital as a precaution.

Crown Street is closed in both directions between Ballater Street and Albert Bridge, and drivers are urged to avoid the area.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 1pm on Thursday, February 19, 2026, police received a report of a crash involving a car and a cyclist in the Thistle Street area of Glasgow.

“The cyclist was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital as a precaution.”

A statement from Glasgow City Council read: “Due to an ongoing police incident, Crown Street is currently closed in both directions between Ballater Street and Albert Bridge.

“Road users are advised to avoid this area.”
