Police have launched an unexplained death probe after a body was found in North Lanarkshire.
Officers were called to the scene at around 8:30 a.m. on Saturday after the discovery was made in a wooded area between Calder Road and Bellshill Road in Motherwell.
Calder Road has been closed from Rosevale Crescent to the A721 at Bellshill Road, with drivers and pedestrians urged to avoid the area.
The death is currently being treated as unexplained as investigations take place.
There continues to be a police presence in the area, and anyone with any information or concerns should approach the officers present.
A spokesperson for the force said: “At around 8.35am on Saturday, officers were called to a report of a body found in the Calder Road area of Motherwell.
“The death is being treated as unexplained, and extensive enquiries are ongoing.
“Officers remain in the area while the investigation continues, and anyone with concerns can approach them.”
