A Festival in Glasgow has been cancelled due to “lower than expected sales” and increasing costs.

The organisers of the Riverside Festival confirmed they had made the “extremely difficult decision” to cancel the event with a statement on social media.

They told their followers that the cancellation was due to “lower-than-expected sales and increased infrastructure, staff, transport, and artist costs, all in an over-saturated event landscape”.

The event was set to take place across May 25 and May 26 with headliners such as Green Velvet, LF SYSTEM, Slam, LA LA, Charlie Sparks, FRANCK, Reinier Zonneveld, TSHA, Eliza Rose, Grace Dahl B2B Stephanie Sykes, Ben Klock and Dax J set to perform.

The event’s cancellation comes after their 2023 event which celebrated their 10th anniversary After last year’s.

Customers who already purchased tickets have been told to expect a full refund within five working days.

A spokesperson for the Riverside Festival said: “It is with deep regret and heavy hearts that we’ve taken the extremely difficult decision to cancel this year’s Riverside Festival.

“With lower-than-expected sales and increased infrastructure, staff, transport, and artist costs, all in an over-saturated event landscape, we could not deliver the festival to our usual high standards.

“We understand how upsetting this is for those of you who have bought tickets, and we sincerely thank you all for your continued support.

“Full refunds will be available from Skiddle & Resident Advisor within 5 working days.

“For those of you committed to dancing Clydeside, all is not lost! We’re putting together two massive shows at the museum for you, taking place on Aug 31 and Sept 1.

“Please save the dates and hold tight for sign up and line up announcements!”

The organisers also confirmed that they will be putting together two “massive” shows at the museum on August 31 and September 1.
