A man has died in a crash involving a motorcycle on the A702 in South Lanarkshire.

Emergency services were called to the road near Elvanfoot at around 12.20pm on Sunday.

The 58-year-old, who was riding the orange Triumph motorcycle, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The road was closed for around ten hours and reopened at 10pm.

Police Scotland has issued a public appeal for dashcam footage.

Sergeant Chris McColm said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died.

“Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and we are appealing to anyone who witnessed the crash to contact us.

“We are also appealing to anyone who may have dashcam footage to come forward.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting incident 1451 of September 22.
