Residents evacuated from homes during early hours due to 'unsafe building'

Residents were told to leave their homes in Hamilton during the early hours of Tuesday morning due to reports of an unsafe building.

Emergency services were called to Quarry Street at around 12.40am and evacuated a number of properties as a precaution.

Officers have closed the road and locals have been urged to avoid the area.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 12.40am on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, we received a report of an unsafe building on Quarry Street, Hamilton.

“A number of properties have been evacuated as a precaution.

“The road is closed and members of the public are being advised to avoid the area.”
