A pair of rare Banksy paintings are expected to go for tens of thousands at an auction in Glasgow.

The artist’s Laugh Now piece from 2003 and Trolleys from 2007 are to go on the market, with both expected to fetch around £20,000.

The collection is included in the Winter Two Day Fine Art & Antiques Auction at Great Western Auctions in Glasgow on December 6 and 7.

The works come from a collector in the Western Isles.

Great Western Auctions said: “Banksy is a unique phenomenon – a contemporary artist whose name is familiar to most, while retaining an enigmatic persona.

“This is due to his high public profile as a bold, imaginative and original street artist, but also to his skill in the graphic arts.

“He often uses animals to convey his favoured themes, which are usually social, environmental or political issues.”

More than 180,000 people flocked to the record-breaking Cut And Run exhibition by the artist at the Gallery of Modern Art in 2023.

The event was the street artist’s first solo exhibition for 14 years.
