Properties were evacuated in North Lanarkshire after a motorcycle was set on fire in a close.
Emergency services were called to Rennie Road, Kilsyth, at around 10.45pm on Thursday after the vehicle was set on fire within the common close of a flat.
The fire was extinguished by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and properties were evacuated as a precaution, but no injuries were reported.
The blaze is being treated as deliberate.
Detective Constable Gamberi said: “Luckily no one was injured as a result, but this could’ve easily spread throughout the flat and caused significant damage.
“I would ask anyone who was in the area at the time and may have information that could assist our investigation to come forward.
“Additionally, anyone with private CCTV or dash-cam footage locally is asked to review this to see if it has captured something of significance.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 0079 of May 1, 2026. Alternatively, information can be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
