An appeal has been launched after a car was “deliberately” set on fire in West Dunbartonshire.

Officers were alerted to the incident on Miller Road in Alexandria around 2.55am on Thursday, February 1.

The blaze was extinguished by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.

Police are now appealing for anyone with information on the incident to come forward.

Detective constable Jemma Green said: “Our enquiries into the fire are ongoing and we are appealing to anyone with information which could assist us to contact us.

“We also ask anyone with private CCTV of the area at the time to come forward.

“Anyone with information can contact police on 101 quoting incident 0247 of Thursday, February 1, 2024. Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.”

A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said:

“We were alerted at 2.56am on Thursday, 1 February, to reports of a car on fire at Miller Road, Alexandria.

“Operations Control mobilised one appliance to the scene, where firefighters extinguished the flames.

“No casualties were reported, and the crew left after ensuring the area was made safe.”
