An investigation has been launched after seven pigeons were found dumped in a cardboard box at the side of a busy road.
The birds – none of which were ringed – were found in poor condition by a member of the public in a lay-by on the A82 near Glasgow on Thursday, March 24.
Unfortunately, five of the pigeons passed away.
The remaining two are currently being cared for at the Scottish SPCA’s Dunbartonshire Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre.
Centre manager Judy Button said: “We’re keen to find out how these pigeons ended up in the area in this condition.
“If anyone recognises these pigeons or has any information on this incident, they can contact our confidential animal helpline.”
If you have any information, call the Scottish SPCA on 03000 999 999.
