Four young men have been charged after a police officer was injured after rocks were hurled at her as she tried to break up a group gathering amid the coronavirus lockdown.
The officer required hospital treatment following the incident in South Lanarkshire on Friday night.
Officers were called to the rear of a building site in Cambuslang at around 9pm in response to reports of a number of youths hanging around.
When they arrived, members of the group ran off, however some stayed behind and began to throw rocks at the officers.
The police officer has since been released from University Hospital Hairmyres in East Kilbride.
Four men – two aged 16, a 20-year-old and 21-year-old – have been arrested and charged in connection with the incident.
A force spokeswoman said: “Around 9pm on Friday, April 24, officers were responding to a report of a number of youths at the rear of a building site in Newton Avenue in Cambuslang.
“On arrival, members of the group ran off, however, some individuals stayed behind and began to throw rocks at the police officers, resulting in a female officer being injured.
“She was taken to Hairmyres Hospital for treatment and has since been released.
“Four males, aged 16, 16, 20 and 21 were arrested and charged in connection with the incident.
“They are subject of a report to the procurator fiscal.”
