Police seek youths spotted on bridge after teen found injured on road

The 17-year-old was taken to hospital after being found injured on the A75 on Saturday morning.

Police are looking to trace a group of youths last seen on a bridge after a teenager was found badly injured on a road below in Dumfries.

Emergency services were called out to the A75, between Castle Douglas Road and Glasgow Road, at around 3:30am on Saturday.

A 17-year-old was found badly injured and taken to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary for treatment.

His current condition is unknown.

Officers are now looking to speak to a group of young people seen on the overbridge of Hardthorn Road between around 2.45am and 3.30am on Saturday.

Detective sergeant Kelly Douglas said: “We are continuing to work to establish the full circumstances of this incident and how the man was injured and came to be on the A75.

“We are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area and in particular the group of young people we know were in the area as they may have information which could prove useful.

“We would also be keen to speak to anyone else with any information or perhaps dash-cam footage which has not yet been passed to police.

“Anyone with information can call police on 101, quoting incident number 0596 of November 12, 2022.”
