Police are searching for a “group of people” after a car was set on fire in Renfrew.
Emergency services were called to a vehicle fire on Arkleston Road, near Arkleston Cemetery and the footbridge over the M8, at around 1.45am on Thursday.
The fire was successfully extinguished and there were no reports of injuries.
Officers are treating the fire as wilful and are following enquires that a group of people were seen running away from the area, over the footbridge towards Cockels Loan, around the time.
A police spokesperson said: “Anyone who saw what happened, saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area around the time and anyone with private CCTV or dash cam footage is urged to come forward.
“You can call 101 quoting reference 0279 of November 23.
“Alternatively, calls can be made to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained.”
