An armed man wearing a balaclava made off with a two-figure sum of money after robbing a convenience store in the northwest of Glasgow.

Officers are appealing for information following the incident at the Keystore on Blairdardie Road at around 4.10pm on Tuesday afternoon.

The man threatened staff with what was believed to be a handgun before running off with the money in the direction of Moraine Avenue.

The suspect is described as white, 5ft 11, medium build, between 40 and 50-years-old, and was wearing a black hat, balaclava, navy fleece, dark blue jeans and bright blue trainers.

Constable Victoria Steele, of Greater Glasgow Police Division, said: “This robbery is very concerning in that the man was armed and it happened mid-afternoon in an area where there is usually a lot of people including children.

“Officers have been checking CCTV and carrying out local enquiries but we would appeal to anyone not already spoken to by police, who was in the area at the time and who may have seen what happened or observed the man hanging about the area, to please get in touch.

“We are also keen to hear from anyone who may have dashcam footage of the street between 4pm and 4.30pm, as it may have captured footage that would be helpful to our investigation.”

Anyone with information can contact police via 101 quoting reference 2054 of Tuesday, March 8, 2022 or alternatively, Crimestoppers can be called anonymously on 0800 555 111.
