Probe launched after car 'deliberately' set ablaze outside house

Police confirmed that the incident is being treated as 'wilful' and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

An investigation has been launched after a car was ‘deliberately’ set on fire outside a house in South Lanarkshire.

The incident took place on Tweed Street, Gardenhall in East Kilbride on Tuesday evening.

Police verified that no one was injured due to the fire and the incident is being treated as wilful.

They are now appealing for anyone with information or personal footage to come forward as they investigate.

Detective Constable Ashley Hind said: “We are appealing to anyone who was on Tweed Street around the time of the fire on Tuesday night who witnessed anything suspicious, or who has any information or personal footage that may assist our investigation to contact 101 quoting reference number 4192 of October 3.

“Alternatively Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained.”
