A search is under way to track down a man missing from Inverclyde as his family and police grow “increasingly concerned” for his welfare.

Andrew Rankin, 55, was last seen on Greenock’s Union Street at around 11.20am on Tuesday.

He is described as 5ft 10in tall, has a slim build and grey, short receding hair.

He was last seen wearing a black bubble jacket, a grey top with writing across the chest, blue jeans, white shoes and was carrying a black rucksack.

Police sergeant Gary Arthur, Greenock Police Office, said: “We are growing increasingly concerned for the welfare of Andrew. This is an extremely worrying time for his family and friends.

“Officers are carrying out extensive searches and reviewing CCTV in an effort to trace him but there have been no confirmed sightings of him.

“I would urge anyone who has any information on Andrew whereabouts or who has had contact with him to call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 2690 of Tuesday, 28 June, 2022.”
