The body of a man has been found in the search for a Renfrewshire local who disappeared on Friday.

Police said the family of 58-year-old Robert Drysdale from Johnstone have been informed but the body is yet to be formally identified.

Officers said the death is being treated as unexplained but added there are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances.

Just hours before, Police Scotland had released an appeal to help find the man over increasing concerns for his welfare.

Mr Drysdale had last been seen in the area of Glenpatrick Road in Elderslie at around 12pm on Friday, March 8.

Police Scotland said: “The body of a man has been found during searches for missing 58-year-old Robert Drysdale from Johnstone.

“He is yet to be formally identified but his next of kin has been informed.

“His death is being treated as unexplained but there are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances.

“Enquiries are ongoing.”
