A 41-year-old man was arrested and charged with a drugs offence, and a 30-year-old man was arrested and charged with possession of a pyrotechnic.

Police are reviewing CCTV footage and content shared on social media to identify those involved in disorder in Glasgow ahead of the Scottish League Cup final.

Two men have been charged, and a police officer has been injured following clashes between Celtic and Rangers fans ahead of the game.

A disturbance broke out on Argyle Street around 12.55pm on Sunday, during which missiles were thrown at police officers, leading to one injury.

A 26-year-old man was seriously assaulted and taken to hospital during the disorder.

Police also received reports of windows being smashed at a premises in Howard Street at around 12.30pm.

Images on social media showed large groups of supporters running down Argyle Street carrying pyrotechnics while being pursued by officers.

A Section 60 order was put in place giving authorised officers power to stop and search people suspected of being part of the disorder.

During the match at Hampden Park, a 41-year-old man was arrested and charged with a drugs offence, and a 30-year-old man was arrested and charged with possession of a pyrotechnic.

Police said both men will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal.

The force is urging anyone with information on the incidents to come forward.

Chief superintendent Stevie Dolan said: “We dealt with a number of incidents in Glasgow city centre involving individuals engaging in disorder and violence.

“Our enquiries are ongoing to identify those who were involved, and we will take appropriate action against them. I urge anyone who has any information that could assist our investigation to contact us.

“I want to make it clear that the use of weapons and violence will not be tolerated, and retrospective enquiries are being carried out.

“We are following a number of lines of investigation, including reviewing CCTV and footage on social media.

“I would like to thank the majority of fans for their conduct throughout the day.

“Enquiries into these incidents are ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting reference 1100 of December 15, or call anonymously Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
