Schoolboy found seriously injured on e-bike was struck in 'hit and run'

Police said extensive enquiries have been carried out and it has been established the boy was struck by a car which failed to stop.

A schoolboy who was found seriously injured on an e-bike on New Year’s Day was struck by a car which failed to stop, police have revealed.

The 15-year-old boy was discovered on Aurs Drive at around 10.55pm on Wednesday, January 1 before being taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where his condition is described as serious.

Police said extensive enquiries have been carried out and it has been established he was struck by a car which failed to stop.

The car is believed to be a silver Vauxhall Astra and enquiries are ongoing to trace it.

Sergeant Ally Wright said: “We have now confirmed that a car was involved in this incident and our enquiries are continuing to establish the full circumstances.

“I am appealing for anyone who was in the area around the time and who may have seen the incident, the car or have information which could assist us to get in touch.

“I would also appeal to anyone with dash-cam footage or private CCTV to contact us.”
