A man has been arrested and charged after a police officer was left in hospital after being struck by a car in East Ayrshire.
The male officer was on Loudoun Road, Newmilns, when he was struck by a vehicle at around 12.10pm on Thursday.
Emergency services attended and he was taken to Crosshill Hospital for treatment to minor injuries.
The car failed to stop but was later traced in Crookedholm, near Kilmarnock.
Police confirmed a 34-year-old man has since been arrested and charged in connection with the incident, and will appear at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Friday.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “At around 12.10pm on Thursday, August 4, 2022, we received a report of a crash involving a car and a police officer on Loudoun Road, Newmilns.
“The male officer was taken to Crosshill Hospital for treatment for minor injuries.
“The car was later traced in Crookedholm, near Kilmarnock.
“A 34-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident. He is expected to appear at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Friday, August 5, 2022.”
