An investigation has been launched after a “deliberate” fire at a rugby club in Kilmarnock.
Emergency services were called after a blaze broke out at a stand at Kilmarnock Rugby Club, off Queens Drive, at around 1.25am on Wednesday.
The fire was extinguished and no one was injured as a result.
Officers have now launched an enquiry in the blaze and are treating it as “deliberate”.
Inspector Iain Farmer of Kilmarnock Police Station said: “This local facility is widely used with their range of activities throughout the week and this type of incident not only affects those that use this club but the community as a whole.
“I condemn such behaviour and I am appealing for witnesses who may have valuable information in relation to this incident to make contact with the police, referring to incident 0156 of January 25, or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
“Additional patrols will be dedicated within the area.”
