Police have issued a warning about violence, disorder and hate crimes after two protests in the space of two days in Glasgow.

Emergency services were called to a disturbance in Tormusk Road in Glasgow at around 6.50pm on Wednesday.

The group was dispersed, but enquiries remain ongoing into vandalism after a rock was thrown.

It follows officers being called to a disturbance in Lamlash Crescent, in the Cranhill area, at around 3pm on Tuesday.

A 32-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with the assault of a police officer following the incident.

Police have now warned that anyone engaging in hate crime and violent disorder is not a “legitimate protest”.

A spokesperson said: “Around 6.50pm on Wednesday, 8 July, 2026, we received a report of a protest in the Tormusk Road area of Glasgow.

“Officers attended and engaged with the group, which later dispersed.

“Enquiries are ongoing into a vandalism and a rock thrown from the crowd during the incident.

“Violence, disorder, hate crime and threatening behaviour that poses a risk to safety is not legitimate protest. Anyone who engages in these offences will be dealt with swiftly and robustly.

“Policing in Scotland has strong relationships with the public and we are grateful for the ongoing support of our communities.”
