Police are hunting a group of football fans after organised violence took place in a wooded area in Bishopbriggs.

A group of around 20 people gathered near Marley Field and Cadder Road around 8.15pm to take part in organised violence on Friday, August 22.

It is understood the incident involved groups claiming to be Rangers, Celtic and Livingston supporters.

The group left the scene when officers arrived, and there were no reports of any injuries.

Celtic and Livingston faced off at Parkhead on August 23, and the Hoops are due to face Rangers in the Old Firm derby on Sunday.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Several individuals involved have been identified and investigations are ongoing to identify and arrest further persons involved.

“I am appealing to the public to help identify the people who took part in this disturbance.

“If you have CCTV, dashcam or mobile phone footage, or have any information that could assist with enquiries, please contact 101 quoting incident number 3672 of August 22, 2025.

“The vast majority of football fans do not conduct themselves in this way and just want to enjoy the sport.

“This organised criminal behaviour impacts our communities, the reputation of football clubs and police resources in order to investigate and prevent these crimes.

“Organised football-related violence will not be tolerated in our communities, and we will continue to investigate this using the full extent of our powers to stamp out this kind of offending.”
