A large number of police descended on a village after reports of a man with a weapon.
Emergency services were called around 7.30am on Monday sparking “significant police activity” in Caldercruix, North Lanarkshire.
Several police vehicles and officers attended the scene in the Park Lea area and a man was arrested.
Lanarkshire Police Division issued a message to the public to reassure them that there was no threat to the wider community.
A spokesperson for the force said: “There has been significant police activity in the Caldercruix area this morning, in particular around Park Lea, this activity was due to police receiving a report of a man in possession of a weapon.
“Officers would like to reassure local residents and the public that a man has been arrested in connection with the incident and there is no threat to the wider community.”
