A body has been found in the search for a man missing from Wishaw.
James McDonald had not been seen since Thursday afternoon and an appeal was launched to locate him shortly afterwards.
Police confirmed the discovery on Grampian Road in the town shortly after 5.20pm on Friday.
Officers confirmed formal identification was still to take place, however McDonald’s family has been informed.
A Police Scotland statement said there were no suspicious circumstances.
“Around 5.20pm on Friday, July 8, the body of a man was discovered in Grampian Road, Wishaw,” a spokesperson for the force confirmed.
“Formal identification has yet to take place but the family of James McDonald, 40, who has been missing since Thursday, July 7, has been made aware.
“The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.”
