Body discovered in search for man who vanished from hospital

The family of the man reported missing from Greenock on July 7 has been informed of that discovery.

A body has been found in the search for a man missing from Greenock.

Stephen McFarlane, 32, was last seen been seen on CCTV at around 2am on July 7 at Inverclyde Royal Hospital on Larkfield Road.

Officers confirmed the discovery was made at around around 5.45pm on Thursday, July 14.

They said that formal identification was still to take place, however Mr McFarlane’s family has been informed.

His death is current being treated as unexplained.

A spokesperson for the force said: “The body of a man has been found off Inverkip Road in Greenock. The body was found around 5.45pm on Thursday, July 14.

“He is still to be formally identified but the family of Stephen McFarlane, 32, from Greenock, who had been reported missing on Monday, July 11, has been informed.

“The death is currently being treated as unexplained and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.”
