A body has been found in the search for a man missing from Falkirk for more than five months.

William Hogg had not been seen since being captured getting off a bus in Callander, Stirling on October 5, 2022.

Police tapered off a wooded area near to Kilmahog on Friday afternoon following reports of the discovery.

Officers confirmed formal identification was still to take place, however Mr Hogg’s family has been informed.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 4pm on Friday, February 24, the body of a man was discovered in a wooded area near to Kilmahog, Callander.

“Formal identification has yet to take place but the family of 75-year-old William Hogg from Falkirk, who was last seen in the Callander area on Wednesday, October5, 2022, have been informed.

“There do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.”
