Police have said they are growing increasingly concerned about the welfare of a woman last seen boarding a train from Edinburgh.

Emma Shaw, 34, was seen in the Granton area around 5.30am on Monday and then made her way to Edinburgh Waverley Station.

It is believed she may have travelled to Blackpool after she was seen boarding a train leaving Edinburgh around 8.50am and getting off at Preston at around 11.15am.

It is understood she may have arrived in Blackpool at around 11.50am.

Emma is described as white, 5ft6ins in height, heavy build, blonde/ginger hair in a short ponytail and when last seen she was wearing a black jumper with colourful writing on the front, a multicoloured scarf, black trousers and black shoes and was carrying a large green rucksack with her.

Inspector Quentin Russell said: “Concerns are growing for Emma’s welfare and it is important we make sure she is safe and well.

“We are asking anyone who has seen her or knows where she might be to get in touch.

“I’d also say to Emma, if you see this appeal, please get in touch with your family or police. We all want to make sure you are safe and well.”
