Emergency services were called to a home in Dumfries after a bone was found in the garden.
Police were sent to the property on Auchencrieff Road in Dumfries around 10.10am on Thursday following the discovery.
The bone has been recovered from the scene, and an examination will be conducted.
Police believe the discovery is archaeological.
A spokesperson for the force said: “Around 10.10am on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, officers were called to a property in Auchencrieff Road, Dumfries following a report of a bone found within the garden.
“Enquiries are ongoing to examine the recovery.”
