Police have launched a probe after a man was found dead in a Glasgow hotel room.

Emergency services were called to the Yotel on Argyle Street at around 4.20am after receiving reports of a man being found injured.

A 55-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers have now launched an investigation into the incident in order to establish the circumstances.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were called around 4.20am on Friday, December 23, to a report of a man being found injured at a hotel in Argyle Street, Glasgow.

“Emergency services attended and the 55-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”

A Yotel spokesperson said: “We can confirm that our team assisted the police with the death of a guest at Yotel Glasgow. As this is an ongoing investigation, we cannot provide any further comment. Please direct all enquiries to the local authorities.”
