Detectives are appealing for the victim and witnesses of a sexual assault on board a Kilmarnock-bound train to come forward.
Police say the incident took place on a service from Glasgow at around 8:30pm on Thursday, October 1.
A man reportedly sexually assaulted a woman before being ejected from the train, with the woman later getting off at Kilmarnock station.
A British Transport Police spokesperson said: “A man in his 30s was arrested in connection on suspicion of sexual assault, and has since been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
“Detectives are urgently appealing for the victim of the assault, and for anyone who may have witnessed the incident, to come forward and help the investigation.”
