Appeal for witnesses after woman struck by Mercedes near Christmas market

Enquiries continue after a 82-year-old pedestrian was struck down on Glasgow's Ingram Street on Wednesday.

Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman was struck by a car near Glasgow’s Christmas market.

Emergency services were called to the city’s Ingram Street, near the George Square Christmas market, at around 12.30pm on Wednesday after a dark blue Mercedes E hit a pedestrian.

An 82-year-old woman was taken to hospital. Her current condition is unknown.

The road was closed until around 2pm.

Enquiries into the incident remain ongoing.

Road policing sergeant Chris Hoggans said: “Enquiries into the circumstances of this collision are ongoing, and I would ask anyone who was in the area at the time and may have seen the crash to please contact us.

“I would also appeal to anyone with dash-cams or home recording equipment to check their footage for anything that could assist us.

Anyone who can help is asked to call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 1392 of November 22.
