Police are investigating after a car was deliberately set on fire in East Dunbartonshire.

Emergency services were alerted after an Audi A3 was set on fire at Hillcroft Terrace, in Bishopbriggs at around 11.30pm on Wednesday night.

The blaze was quickly extinguished by fire crews, and officers have confirmed nobody was injured as a result.

Police have confirmed the fire is being treated as wilful and are conducting enquiries.

Detective inspector Ross Jamieson said: “Our investigation is continuing to trace whoever is responsible for this crime. 

“Officers have been carrying out enquiries in the local area and are viewing CCTV footage to gather more information.

“I would like to speak to anyone who was in the area of Hillcroft Terrace after 11pm on Wednesday evening who witnessed anything suspicious or who has any information that may help. 

“Any details should be passed by phoning 101 with reference 3844 of 9 February.  Alternatively Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained.”
