Peter Duffy to be sentenced for double murder of partner and brother in Coatbridge, North Lanarkshire Police Scotland

A man will be sentenced on Friday after being found guilty of the double murder of his partner and his brother at separate addresses in North Lanarkshire.

Peter Duffy, 47, killed Emma Baillie, 26, and John Paul Duffy, 51, in Coatbridge between March and April 2022.

Duffy strangled his partner Emma on an occasion between March 4 and April 12, 2022 at his home in Calder Street.

He also repeatedly struck her on the head and body with a knife.

Duffy then repeatedly stabbed John Paul at his flat with a knife and hid the body under rubbish at his brother’s home in High Coats between March 29 and April 10, 2022.

He also killed John Paul’s cat Sher Khan with an axe.

Duffy claimed that he found both Emma’s and John Paul’s dead bodies but did not report it as he thought he would get the blame.

Judge Lord Scott stated that it was a “wicked killing against two people” after the jury’s guilty verdict was heard.

Duffy will be sentenced at the High Court in Edinburgh.
