Multi-agency rescue mission launched after person injured on boat

A Coastguard lifeboat was sent to Loch Spelve after reports of an injured person on board a boat.

A multi-agency rescue mission was launched after a person sustained an injury on board a boat in Isle of Mull.

The coastguard received reports of a person needing medical assistance on board a yacht on Loch Spelve around 7.30am on Friday.

The Oban Coastguard Rescue Team and an RNLI lifeboat were dispatched to help the person in trouble.

The casualty was brought to shore by the lifeboat and taken to hospital by the Scottish Ambulance Service for further treatment.

A Coastguard spokesperson said: “At 7.30am on May 31, HM Coastguard had a report of someone needing medical assistance on a yacht on Loch Spelve.

“The Oban Coastguard Rescue Team and the RNLI lifeboat were sent.

“The casualty was brought to shore by the lifeboat and passed into the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service.”

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We received a call at 07:57 to attend an incident at Oban Harbour.

“An ambulance was dispatched to the scene and one patient was transported to Lorn and Islands Hospital, Oban.”
