A man has been charged in connection with attempted murder after a man and dog were injured during an alleged stabbing in Greenock.
Emergency services were called to the property on Lyle Street around 3.15pm on Wednesday following reports of a serious assault.
A 46-year-old man was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment after he was reportedly stabbed.
An injured dog was taken to a vet for treatment. Officers have charged a 54-year-old man in connection with the incident, and enquiries are ongoing.
He is expected to appear at Greenock Sheriff Court on Friday.
Police remain on the scene.
Detective inspector Nicky Beattie said: “We’d like to thank the community for their assistance and understanding as enquiries into this incident have been carried out.
“This appears to be an isolated incident, and there is no risk to the wider public. There will be a continued police presence in the area and anyone with any concerns can approach these officers.”
