A casualty has been airlifted to hospital after a two-vehicle crash closed a road in Dumfries and Galloway.
The Scottish Ambulance Service sent two ambulances, an air ambulance and a paramedic response unit to the scene of the crash on the A714 between Newton Stewart and Wigtown, near Upper Barr, at around 9.30am on Wednesday.
One patient was flown to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary. Their current condition is unknown.
The road remains closed at this time and drivers have been asked to avoid the area.
A police spokesperson said: “Emergency services are attending a road traffic collision on the A714 between Newton Stewart and Wigtown near to Upper Barr.
“Council staff will be implementing diversions soon..
“Please avoid the area and seek an alternative route.”
A Scottish Ambulance spokesperson said: “We received a call at 9.34am to attend a two-car road traffic collision on the A714 between Newton Stewart and Wigtown.
“We dispatched two ambulances, an air ambulance, and a paramedic response unit (PRU) to the scene.
“We transported one patient to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary.”
