A pensioner has been taken to hospital following a ‘serious’ hit and run incident in North Ayrshire.

At around 6.10pm on Tuesday, January 10, a crash occurred between a car and a pedestrian near to Muirend Street, Bridgend in Kilbirnie.

The pedestrian, a 72-year-old man, was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment where his condition has been described as stable.

Police have said that enquiries are now ongoing to trace the car involved.

Sergeant Gordon Stewart said: “We are appealing to the public for information as part of our ongoing enquiry to establish the full circumstances of what happened.

“If you were in the area at the time then please get in touch. We are keen to speak to any drivers with dash-cam footage that could assist.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 2691 of Tuesday, January 10, 2023.
