A pensioner has been left with a “life-changing injury” after an unprovoked attack in Glasgow’s city centre.

The 68-year-old man was seriously assaulted as he waited at a bus stop in Jamaica Street on Saturday night.

He was taken to hospital after the attack by a younger man, which happened around 10.30pm.

Police have appealed for witnesses of the incident to come forward as they launch an investigation.

Detective constable Allyson Ferguson said: “This appears to have been a totally unprovoked attack on a man waiting on his bus home after a night out.

“I would ask anyone who may have witnessed this attack, or who has any information which could help in the investigation to call us.”

If you have information that could assist police call 101.
